About

Hi there. Since you have clicked on the “About” link, I am assuming that you are curious to know more about the blog and the person behind it. You should be able to learn more here. If you have any other questions feel free to leave a comment or contact me via e-mail.

About me

My name is Diana, though online I go by Aendi. I was born a quarter of a century ago in Romania, but have lived in Sweden and been a Swedish citisen for most of my life now. I am a high school teacher. My subjects are psychology, Germand English; I work at a local private highschool.

I’m interested in how the mind works, how humans communicate and Internet as a social arena in particular. I like reading books, making check- and to-do lists and nagging about everything I come across. I’m also a fan of photography.

I dislike the darkness that autumn and winter bring with them. Other people nagging ticks me off.

All in all I’d say I’m a naïve, optimistic over-thinker. I think most of my friends would agree with that.

About blogging

My first blog that I stuck to and that’s worth mentioning is Voodoo Ventures, launched in August 2008. It was a themed blog about the online role-plying game World of Warcraft. I wrote about the social aspects of the game and the community surrounding it, as well as in-character role-playing posts on the adventures my characters had.

At the moment I’m writing for this blog and a personal journal that is not available to the public.

About this blog

Lorelle put it like this in a post she wrote for the Blog Herald:

A hobby is something you do for fun, relaxation, and enjoyment. It’s a change from the day-to-day grind of your job, whatever your job is. Luckily, most of us live in a society that allows us hours away from a paid job to do something other than work.

For most, their hobby brings creativity and fun into their lives. It stretches the mind and body, actually making them a better worker for the time away from the job. Hobbies are wonderful things and they need to be honored.

I share her view on this. Blogging for me is just that – a hobby. This is a non-profit blog that I write because I like writing and want to get better at it. I want to share my thoughts and open dialogues around the issues that interest me, as well as help others by sharing my experiences.

The blog does not have a particular theme, specializing in a certain niche. It is about things that interest me so the posts vary in topic.

Why the strange title?

As mentioned before, I’m not a native English speaker though I find great pleasure in the English language. The full title of the blog is “Good Socks – Because let’s face it, no one likes their socks ungood”. It chose it because I liked the sound of it – good is not the kind of adjective you’d normally attach to the word socks and ungood just plain isn’t a word. This is the kind of thing that a native speaker would never say. A Swede speaking English might actually say something like this (emphasis on the might).

So other than just being a tad random, it is supposed to signal the important fact that I am not a native speaker – I don’t always get things right. Lastly I happen to find it a hilarious blog name. Don’t you?
